                  Brief Achievements

 

I have done systematic investigations on ‘TCM Modernization and Quantitation’ for more than 20 years. My work mainly focuses on cultivation, sorts and quality identification of herbal drugs; industrial manufacture (tissues culture) of effective components; quantitation of nature, flavor, meridian tropism of TCM; modernization and quantitation of diagnosis methods; quantitation of single TCM material medica and preparation of TCM standard products. In these areas, I have got creative achievements, and proposed ‘New Theory for Developing Drugs’ (a revolutionary theory ).Based on this new theory, I have achieved several drugs’ R&D in about 10 years. It is obvious that the new theories have great power and good practicability. The brief introduction is as followings.

 

1.       ZX-A₂ (Invention Patent No. 200410083027.8, International Patent Applied No. PCT/CN2006/000445)

thrombolysis, no hemolysis, no statistical difference in hemorrhage time compared with normal saline, anti-damage after reperfusion, microcirculation improvement, damaged tissues repair

As we know, at present cardiovascular diseases are with the highest mortality, are the first killers of human beings. Thrombi form in blood vessels of patients; then blood deficiency, calcium deficiency in the lower reaches of the thrombus and intracellular calcium content decrease cause stroke or myocardial infraction, thus the patients have to be rescued instantly to resolve thrombus.

If the thrombus is resolved, blood starts to recover to circulate, and will cause reperfusion damage.

Reperfusion damage is a pathological phenomena when blood deficiency damage is heavier caused by blood perfusion recovery after blood deficiency in tissues or organs, represented by more obvious tissue structure and organ dysfunction. Commonly used Urokinase is a thrombolytic agent. Its thrombolytic property is good,but it has hemorrhagic trend.It^,s price is about 1000/injection. In the other countries thromholytic agent TPA can induce thrombolysis without causing hemorrhage.The price of atpa is 12,000rmb. Neither Urokinase nor TPA can solve reperfusion damage and damaged tissue repair problems after thrombolysis. Both have to depend on other drugs’ assistance. Our invention patent ZX-A₂ can be used for thrombolysis, anti-damage after reperfusion, damaged tissues and cells repair, as well as be used to improve the whole body’s microcirculation, improve physical constitution, and thus it is better for health recovery. The price of ZX-A₂ material is only several thousandths of the TPA retail price. The effect and market advantages of ZX-A₂ can be seen. ZX-A₂ material can be assured, which according to Chinese Pharmacopoeia is a monomer, and its structure, molecular weight, physicochemical properties can be clarified, and thus the intellectual property is easy to protect.

2. ZX-C reduce blood glucose, and meanwhile improve microcirculation

 

At present, diabetes is one of the main diseases globally. Its invasion increases sharply and extends to young people. Only as for Chinese all over the world, diabetes patients are 100,000,000. Diabetes is a kind of endocrine disease, and microcirculation dysfunction occurs simultaneously. Diabetes complications of latter periods, such as blindness, hepatonecrosis, renal failure, amputation, erosion without recovery, etc, mainly have great relation to microcirculation dysfunction. This project achieves to reduce blood glucose and improve microcirculation simultaneously, and thus to inhibit or release diabetes complications of latter periods. The project has great significance for diabetes treatment. Diabetes patients commonly have cardiovascular diseases of various degrees. This achievement can reduce blood glucose, as well as reduce cholesterol, inhibit thrombus, inhibit hemolysis, slow down heart rate and improve microcirculation. It is suitable for general diabetes patients or diabetes patients with cardiovascular diseases. The other general antidiabetics don’t have such therapeutic functions of ZX-C. Since ZX-C is from common TCM herbal drugs, it is safe. This project is under the process to apply for an invention patent.

3.      ZX-0 metabolic syndrome

At present, there are many patients in the world suffering from hyperlipidemia, hypertension, hyperglycemia, high cholesterol, simultaneously, namely metabolic syndrome. It is a widely discussed topic internationally, and is a tackling key object. Metabolic syndrome is not a single disease, but a series of simultaneous or successive pathological changes, including: obesity, hypertension, hyperlipidemia and diabetes, etc. The origin is insulin resistance, and successively it causes hypertension, abnormal hepatic metabolism, arteriosclerosis, and many other diseases.

ZX-0 have obvious effect to resolve thrombus, inhibit hemolysis, reduce blood glucose, improve ‘the ratio of high density lipoprotein to low density lipoprotein’, reduce blood viscosity, resist damage after reperfusion and improve microcirculation, etc. It has no toxicity. By now, no other drugs with such functions have been discovered.

As we know, the risk of cardiovascular disease attack can be judged by ratio of high-density lipoprotein to low-density lipoprotein. The larger the ratio is, the lower is the risk of attack; the smaller the ratio is, the higher is the risk. ZX-0 can improve this ratio, reduce the risk, and even inhibit cardiovascular disease attack.

ZX-0 is from effect components of single TCM herbal drug documented in Chinese Pharmacopoeia. The extract method of effect component is assured. Oral dosage is also assured (200mg/kg rats), and as well as the purity needed to realize the therapeutic effect mentioned above is certain. Its acute toxicity is 10g/kg. Namely it has no toxicity actually.

This achievement is suitable for ‘metabolic syndrome’, ‘cardiovascular disease with blood deficiency’, and can also be used for precaution.

4.      ZX-W improve microcirculation

Microcirculation is called ‘the second heart of human body’, whose importance can be imaged. Circulation system consists of two parts: peripheral and central circulation. It guarantees substance metabolism of body tissues. The joint parts of resistance vessels and capacitance vessels consist microcirculation system. Only microcirculation system takes part in substance metabolism of tissues and cells directly. It seems like a material supply and waste recovery system to guarantee normal operating of the society. It is easily imaged, the results caused by microcirculation dysfunction are extensive and deep, such as: shock (microcirculation perfusion dysfunction); disseminated intravascular coagulation, DIC for short (extensive microthrombus in microcirculation, involving internal, surgical, gynecological diseases); At present, diseases known to have relation to microcirculation revolve cardiovascular diseases, respiratory diseases, digestive diseases, hematologic diseases, neuropsychiatric disorders, glomerulitis, collagen diseases, lupus erythematosus, infectious diseases, pregnancy and pregnancy toxaemia, and otolaryngology diseases, etc. Diabetes with increasing morbidity and patients’ becoming younger is also included, and attracts general concern. Complications of diabetes latter period include: kidney failure, atherosclerosis, myocardial infarction, blindness, nervous lesion, blood deficiency ulcer, hepatic damage, lower limb extensive bony erosion, malformations and other serious diseases. Nerve damage is a serious complication of I type diabetes patients, which is a painful deformitive complication caused by blood circulation dysfunction in hands, arms, legs and feet. About 1/3 or more of the I type diabetes patients have serious nerve damage, many of whom have to accept amputation treatment. Scientists discover: it has great relation between nerve damage and heart disease attack risk. In England, investigations on 1172 I type diabetes patients show about 1/4 have serious nerve damage in 7 years.

Thus it can be seen, if diabetes patients of early period pay attention to control dangerous heart disease factors and improve microcirculation when controlling blood glucose, the variety of diabetes complications caused by microcirculation dysfunction are possible to be reduced or inhibited. This achievement has a great possibility to be effective drugs or health food to achieve this goal.

Animal experiments show the results: this achievement can improve microcirculation of normal rats, diabetes rats, myocardial infarction rats and normal persons. It improves vascular loop open, microarteriola diameter and vein diameter, accelerates blood velocity, from granula linear stream to linear granula stream, and thus to improve perfusion. Its functioning time is more than 2 days. As for human bodies, only 0.17mg/kg is the dosage to achieve the functions mentioned above.
